Some random thoughts on the Middle East.
• The execution of Saddam Hussein will do nothing towards achieving peace in the Middle East.
• The formation of the state of Israel was a flawed idea from the get-go.
• Women who include their children as part of a human shield are a disgrace.
• Encouraging children to carry "Death to Sharon" and "Go to hell, Sharon" placards after Ariel Sharon collapsed are also a disgrace.
• It is too easy and simplistic to be a smug, cynicalm agnostic Westerner and say they are all just madmen and women fighting over who has the better claim on their imaginary friend. That attitude trivialises faiths and belittles the bigger issues at play.
• It is very important to try and understand the principles of Islam and Judaism if we are to be informed and retain some sense of humanity.
• There will never be lasting, across-the-board peace in the Middle East. Just pockets of peace, such as Dubai and the UAE where I currently live in a shiny bubble of glass, steel, sand and capitalism.

Or don't discuss for all I care...
Man, I try to make the blog less about me and more about bigger issues...
OK, fine. But I'm not writing any more pieces about my personal life. I don't care if they attract 47 comments. Am in Singapore now and I've just seen a beauty salon where you can sing karaoke while you wait. Have yet ti find Four Floors Of Whores but if money gets tight, you never know...
I am a Luddite. Apparently I had accidentally set the comment moderation function to block all and sundry from commenting after I indulged in a little self-censorship. A hearty thanks to the Original Mel for pointing out the error in my ways.
So where the hell are all my comments? Hmmm?
Yeh, mine got more abusive the more i got denied.....after a while i couldnt get enough of your blog, i guess being rejected made me want to comment more.
So, did you find The Four Floors, moron ??
It's cleverly hidden in a large building on Orchard Rd marked 'ORCHARD TOWERS'.
The sign is nearly as large as the one on this blog that said 'COMMENT MODERATION IS ACTIVE'...
does that mean youre on your way home Georgia????
No, I didn't find Four Floors of Whores. Then again, I didn't look too hard. I did however stumble upon a bar where some crazy young things were having toilet sex while we sang really bad karaoke.
No, Mex, I'm not yet coming home. Not until I visit late March 2007 for a retrospective 30th birthday.
That's actually not that far off...
Time seems to flying as of late.
Or maybe I'm just getting old...
Retrospective 30th? Is that like a Vide Hits "retrospective" show, where we look back at what happened during your 30th year?
More of a second 30th birthday despite the fact I'll be 31 with all the people who I wish could have come ot my bona fide 30th. But there will certainly be plenty of opportunities for looking back on the marvellous year I've had...
you should make it a "come dressed as me" party.
or georgias fantasy party.
oh the hilarity
My fantasies tend to be based in reality so way too dull for fancy dress. And a come-dressed-as-me party would freak me out. I think I'll just have everyone over to my flat in sunny Alexandria - there's a rooftop bit that's just made for alfresco boozing. I hope the body corporate have gotten around to putting some decent furniture up there...
My friend had a "come dressed as a sexual fantasy" party once and it was hilarious. Although slightly concerning was our friend's decision to wear scuba gear. He insisted some people really really like wetsuit material...
